If ILR refused can you then extend original visa......timing

Post by pipwake » Thu Jul 07, 2011 12:10 pm

Hi there,

If for some reason I was refused my ILR can I then apply for an extension of my current UK Ancestry? If I send the ILR in by post then it will take about 2 months for it to come back adn then that would mean my other visa would have expired....

Anyone have experience of this or can help me??
Thanks

If you are refused, you will be able to appeal. Provided that you submit your application for ILR before your current leave expires, then your permission to be in the UK is deemed to continue during the application process and any appeal. However, you can't rely on your extended leave to launch a whole new applicaion from inside the UK.

Is there a particular reason you think you might be refused?

Hi there,
I came here with my now fiance on UK Ancestry visas and I worked in the retail industry for 3 years before going on maternity leave and then discontinuing work to raise our son. So I am applying for my ILR when I don't have a job. My fiance supports us and I have all the docs to back this up......yet I feel seeing I do not work this might impact the decision??
Thanks
