Phonecall from Embassy

Post by sweetmissy » Mon Aug 08, 2011 1:53 pm

Hey all,

Has anyone (who is acting as a sponsor) for UK Spouse Visa, had a phone call to verify things?

I had a phoncall this morning from the British Embassy in Cairo, asking me to verify my relationship and that my husband wishes to settle in the UK

My HR department recieved a call moments later, asking to verify my employment details.

I know the HR stuff is usual.. but has anyone evr had the Embassy contact you??

HALP
Alhamdulilah for habibi..

Don't worry this is a normal routine procedure that the BHC carry out to confirm things you have stated in your application. They also carry out checks with your employers to make sure you are in fact employed.

The good news will be that once these checks are carried out, the decision on your hubby will be made soon inshallah.

This is my first post, but I've been following the goings on here for the last month or so. My wife's online visa status changed today and she can pick up her passport from the VFS office in Guangzhou, China. However, neither myself or her or anyone else either of us knows has had a call from the embassy asking to verify anything, so now you've got me a little worried whether the news will be good or not when she goes to pick it up tomorrow. I also had a job lined up to go into more or less after I got back, but no call there as far as I know.

We were going to both leave China and settle in the UK at the same time (as I've been there for the past 5 years), but it took us longer to file the application due to banking things coming from UK and I also had to alter my return flight but couldn't push it any later than I did.

I did think that they'd at least call me, but nothing...

I would not worry MrJ..

Each Embassy is different how they do things.

My hubby and I haven't been together a long time, so maybe that is why...

Trust me, other people who have got visas were not contacted at all.. so don't worry..

Please can you let me know the outcome for your spouse visa?
Alhamdulilah for habibi..

Thanks - you've made me feel a little less worried now 8)

It's been a long 48 working days (though I know you've been waiting about a week longer than us), but it seems that maybe you'll be getting a decision sometime very soon!

I'll put the outcome on here, though I half feel like I've hijacked your thread

No not at all... Everyones imput on this forum is helpful.

If anything... I started a thread 'spouse visa waiting times-your stories' if you post the visa result on that one, as it will be helpful to others to read on there :D

All the best for you both, I hope it's good news for you both!!

Was good news :D

Now will probably need to wait about a month to be re-united - I just hope the current events happening in London and elsewhere isn't off putting...

Hi Maxiy

We applied on the 12th October and I had a phone call from the Border Agency in London today - asked lots of questions. When I asked how long I was told that its being processed at the moment but couldnt give me any times

no she told me on the phone she does not have any of the paperwork we submitted, that is in Cairo! so i dont know if London is just helping out because of the amount of applications.

our application is pretty straight forward ( i think lol)

Hi, my hubby applied in September - we got the call on 27th October - still no news or change to status. It's Eid out there at the moment so there probably won't be anything done until Thursday at the earliest.
I'm really so worried. (From Egypt too)

It seems that everyone who has submitted in Egypt is getting this call! We submitted our application in September and received the call 2 weeks ago tomorrow. Last month my good friend had his visa accepted, they got a call also, but from Egypt. They are now calling from London...it is so hard not to read into things, I really hope it is as suggested that London are helping out because of how busy they are?!

Does anyone know of other couples who have had the call from London and been accepted/declined and timescales??

Stressed and emotional, just want to be back with my man :( xx

My wife applied on 6th Sept and I received a phone call on 1st Nov.

I am very very bad to remember the dates and when they phoned me I was very busy at work and they asked me about the first time we met as I was in hurry I gave them wrong year but apart from this I have answered all questions correctly.
I don't know if this answer will affect my wife application.

Any advice

Mego
