EU and Non EU divorce in Ireland. how does it work?

Post by imjapanese » Tue Sep 13, 2011 8:49 pm

Hello I am from Japan.
I have a question for anybody who might know about our case.
I am from Japan(stamp4, EU fam) and my husband is Polish.
We live in Ireland.
We have been married only for a year but we might get divorced sooner or later.
We got married in Poland, in the polish way.
My questions are:

-Do we have to go to Poland to get divorced?
-Do I have to leave Ireland as soon as we get divorced?
(my visa is until 2015 but my surname is his on the visa, but after the divorced I will have to change it to my original name so the visa won't be valid I guess?)
-I have a child from a previous marriage, would this have a problem getting divorced in Poland?
-Can I at least have 3 months-tourist visa after the divorce?

Our case is not very common and I have asked my garda friend but he had no idea what we should do.
There is no such information online either.
If anyone knows a familiar case would you please help me?
Thank you!
