Not possible to make this transition from inside the UK.

It will have to be an application from India.

I've just provided a link to the official guidance clearly indicating that it is not possible to do this. Show that to you so-called solicitor and ask for him to comment.

ok got it... so she has to go back to india and apply form there for my dependent. one more thing ..we have been here in the UK from last 2 years as i was on Tier- 4 dependent and she was the main applicant as Tier - 4 student. now in march i changed my status to Tier 1 general main applicant. and she is still on Tier - 4 student main applicant. i have shown balance here in halifax 800 pound for me and 533 for my wife + extra 500 pounds from last 3 months... i am confused that we are in the uk more than 12 months so is that balance ok or i need to show 800 + 1600 ?

She only needs to show 533 for herself for 90 days. You don't need to show maintenance for yourself as you are not making an application.

what a relief...so that means my balance looks ok.... than also i have shown more than 2000 pounds here in uk and around 1500 pounds in india..

Balance certificate from halifax would be ok to present in India right ? or do they accept balance certificate from India only?..

Can be money held by you or by her, or jointly, in bank accounts in India or the UK.
