Travelling outside UK with Tier 4

Hi,

I am a student currently in the UK with a Tier 4 General Student. I completed my masters degree in September 2011.

I intend to apply for the Tier 1 PSW visa in November 2011, once my degree will be officially given.

Is it possible to leave and come back to the UK anytime before graduation in January 2012, (i.e. between October 2011 and December 2011) with my Tier 4 visa?
Will leaving the UK affect my application for the Tier 1 PSW visa? If yes, how?
