Tier 1 - how many extensions are allowed?

Hello,

I was about to apply for ILR but it turns out that I may have too many absences from the UK over the last 5 years.

I'm wondering if I can apply for an extension to my Tier 1 visa? and if so, how early before my current one runs out can I apply for it?

You can apply for an extension at any time of your choosing. Under the current rules there is no limit to the amount of times you can extend.
