ILR sent but no acknowledgement after 2 weeks

Hi,

My wife applied for her ILR (spouse) through the local settlement checking service on Oct 11th. We paid by bankers draft.
Got the tracking number next day and delivery to Durham was confirmed on the 12th.

As yet we haven't received an acknowledgement letter from the Home Office.
Is this normal, shouldn't we have received something by now to say they have received the application? Would the bankers draft delays things?

I did call the UKBA help line but they said that checking an individual case couldn't be done at this stage - we should sit tight and wait.

We just want to know that the application has been logged as the visa is due to run out on 29th.

Any advice on what we should do?
