hi everyone,
I am an African woman and presently living in Ireland(overstayer),I've got 7 months pregnancy,so my baby will born soon and I am really concern about his status.the father is also from Africa without legal status here.

Child won't be an Irish citizen, sorry. They changed the law on 1.1.2005 to stop children of illegals and certain other categories from being Irish citizens by birth.

You will need to approach the Embassy of your country (and/or that of your partner if different) to apply for a passport for the child.

If the Embassies of both your country and that of your partner confirm that the child is not entitled to citizenship of that country, then there is an exception and you will be able to get Irish citizenship for your child.
