Letter from Bank

A very quick question - Is it mandatory to have a letter from bank confirming the required maintenance funds have been kept in the account for 90 consecutive days? Or the original bank statement would suffice?

The letter is not necessary.

See an excerpt from page 20 of the guidance

Personal bank statements showing the payments made to the applicant: Bank statements provided must be on official bank stationery, and must show each of the payments that the applicant is claiming.

If the applicant wishes to submit electronic bank statements from an online account he/ she should also provide a supporting letter from the bank on company headed paper confirming that the documents are authentic.

In your case, the statements are original, so the letter is not needed. I have applied for many visas with originals and have been successful.
