They will ask your wife personal questions about you, your family, your work, how your relationship began, what your plans are for the future etc.Wonko wrote:Hi everyone, this is my first post here. We found out today that my wife has to go for an interview in Kuala Lumpur on the 28th of October. Does anyone have any experience of spouse interviews in Malaysia? Or anywhere really. Just want to know what she should expect.
Yep the o.o1% consumes youWonko wrote:Ha, yes, I suppose so. We've been together for six and a half years and have spent maybe five months of that in total on the same continent, so the thought that she might soon have a piece of paper in her passport that says she can be with me for real is just overwhelming. Equally, the thought that she might be rejected is terrifying. Thanks for your reply though - I know intellectually that things are 99.99% likely to be OK, butyou know how it is - that 0.01% is the only thing I can think about
I would not worry to much about getting here within the 3 months time limit. If you re late by a few days, it will make no difference. If you are prepared to pay a little extra in FLR fees when she comes to UK. you could delay her arrival by 2 yrs if you wish. If, as we hope, she has the visa, everything will then have to move at the speed of light to get her ready in time to come here within the time limit. As she is quite high up in her company she needs to give two months notice to them, which would have left her with a month's grace to make preparations, sell her car, deal with her finances, etc. Now over two weeks has been wasted by VFS Global and the world's slowest courier, which apparently takes three working days to courier a package a total distance of 220 miles between two major urban centres, fifty minutes on a plane or four hours by road. I assume the clock starts ticking from the day the visa was issued, not the day she receives it.
I could hear the audible sound of relief many miles from you.Wonko wrote:We got it!
Thank you everyone for all of your comments during a rather frustrating two weeks.
The ECO has post-dated the effective date of the visa until January 3rd. So, that removes the mad rush too. He did ask her when she planned to travel during the interview, so it was nice of him to put that date on the visa.
