Already reached the 6 months service deadline today. When I called Home Office, I am told that it's only today that 6 months standard has reached (applied on 5th May) and should wait for another week and then call if I don't hear anything. I just don't understand what do they mean by 6 months Service Standard then!!

This can only mean, you will get an approval soon. You've already done your biometric and if they are too loaded, yours may be considered by another team in Sheffield. You had a privilege to know this because your MP asked. I think you should get an approval before end of November. Be very positive!

it was told to me i have to wait until the end of the month in which your 6 months is ending. so according to what they told me you have to wait till the end of November.

I am in the same boat applied on 16th May 2015 ,my application received on 19th May I have contact HO they called me saying my application still within 6 months to get the exact update you have to wait till 20th November .

Applied 1 May, received 5 May. Called HO today first person was rude, called second time to be told that they are behind with April / May applications and that I should wait for 2 weeks and call back after that. I said to her that waiting for 6 months is quite enough and whether she would be kind enough to take my details so someone (my caseworker) could call me back with an update. She said she can't pass on messages so can't take my details. Then she aslo said that the fact that I have not received anythign in 6 months is a good sign as a refusal or request for more docs would have been sent out by now. She said she is almost certain I will receive the approval within 2 weeks. I have also emailed my MP today and will see if he will manage to find out something. The wait continues.

I am in the same boat as both of you. I applied on 1st may and application was received by UKVI on 5th May.I called UKVI on 4th NOV, one gentleman answer the phone, he was quiet friendly but he couldn't look at my application, he said system wouldn't allow him to look at the application status before six month. he asked me to call back next day. So I did call today 5th of Nov. one lady answered the call she was so rude and unhelpful. Now I am writing to my local MP, I hope my MP will ask UKVI to expedite my application process. its a shame the way UKVI is treating us, we paid large sum of 1095 application fee but in return we received worst customer service in the world. we get better service in Mcdonalds when we order big mac.

I wouldn't worry. This letter is generally sent to bide more time as they haven't managed to proccess within 6 months and need more time.
