Nothing to be nervous about. It will be a relaxed celebration, with other very happy people. :) Enjoy it.
This YouTube video will give you an idea.

Pick up a passport application form from the Post Office.

The ceremony is extremely boring, I'd just go to the pub instead.

Just go with the flow.

The officials guide you.

You will have to take the oath.
Oh and you have to sing.
Some officials will shake your hand.
Enjoy it all.

Don't forget to take a camera!
If you are religious and are taking the religious oath you can take a holy book with you (to swear the oath on) if you wish. (My wife did that).

You will come away with your naturalisation certificate and feeling great.
We went to a Thai restaurant to celebrate afterwards.

Passport is a separate application.
Apply online or pickup the form at a Post Office.

Best of British luck.

Go to Youtube and look up "British citizenship ceremony" or words to that effect and you will see what the ceremony involves.

Wanderer, that is a great idea. What better way to integrate new citizens into British life than to have fish and chips and a pint in the local after the ceremony. We must write to Ms May. :D

I noticed on the Plymouth register office site that you can pay extra to have a private ceremony at your own location, so unless there is some quirk in the rules which excludes public houses, there's no reason why you couldn't have your ceremony in a pub. 8)

Or if living in Scotland, you could have it in bus shelter with a bottle of Bucky and a fried Mars Bar....

To the best of my knowledge, the only way to apply is by post. There is no council service for passports.

You can't apply for your passport until you have attend your BC ceremony. The passport will be sent by post....after you've attended and passed your interview.

Did you meet the English language requirement for naturalisation? :?

See here for the kind of questions you will be asked in your passport interview: http://www.immigrationboards.com/britis ... 64893.html

It's mainly to confirm your identity.

The passport interview is to make sure you are who you say you are.

It is not about English.

But the point of the proof of English ability (for naturalisation) is so that you can communicate effectively in this country.
- such as during a passport interview.

I think the closest you can get to the council thing is the premium service but yea - not for the first passport.

Just wanted to add a note here that for the private ceremony you don't have to sing. :)

Wanderer's suggestion of heading to the local for a pint is a good one. You are British now.

A bottle of champagne at home is an alternative.
