The above is true for adults (for sure) - as I have hinted in my first response to the OP - and may be true for minors too!
Lots of people are having trouble applying for a British passport using a name different from the one displayed in foreign passport (e.g. - women adopting spouse's surname and trying to get British passport in the adopted surname without changing name in foreign passport first).
I am not sure if you can get the name changed in the foreign passport which now doesn't have a valid visa but if the embassy (of country of your foreign nationality) has no problem with that then that's the first thing you should do. Apply for registration only afterwards. Else, you may face issues when applying for child's first passport.
Hii geriatrix
Thanks again but I checked Bristish Passport Guidance booklet.. they say if u change Name then u should provide one of the evidence in support of ur application..... either its Naturalisation certificate showing changed Name or Deed Poll Certificate and there are others in the list also....apart from original passport he has now.
So if thats the case then it would be ok or not ?? coz I am sure I can go for the local embassy also but we use English National Identity Card also as a replacement of passport to travel back home...soo my son has got both Passport and that I.D. card with Old name......?????
Thanks
