Financial requirement for family visa

Post by Sarashini » Mon May 01, 2017 12:21 pm

To apply for a family of a settled person visa,it is stated that the financial requirement is £ 22,400 for partner and one child. I want to know whether this requirement can be fulfilled from the current employment contract. ( from future income) rather than showing past income. (Not be able to prove this threshold from past income as not earning in UK. (This is the first time obtain a job in UK and the he is a dual citizen in UK).

Thank you very much.

Future income won't qualify. The sponsor will have to wait until they have 6 months of payslips + the 6 months corresponding bank statement showing that they are earning at least £22,400 p.a (assuming the child isn't a British national).

They will also have to provide a letter from the employer on company letterhead confirming the terms of their employment and that this is ongoing.

I addition to the visa fees each applicant will have to pay the £600 NHS surcharge.

Evidence of adequate accommodation is required, together with proof of a genuine and subsisting relationship.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I am wondering whether I could obtain any other type of visa instead family of a settled person visa to join my husband who is working in U.K and also a dual citizen in U.K. considering following facts.
My husband will stay in U.K. only during the period of contract for the employment even he has the dual citizenship.
Based on that I may require the Visa only until he stays in U.K.
Also I noted (however not directly applicable) that a person under tier 2 general visa can sponsor his dependents and based on the information I got the financial requirement is much less than family of a settled person visa (for past 90 days £ 2,205 in the bank account).

Will there be opportunity for me to apply any other type of Visa based on my husband's employment
Thank you

No he is not as he has the dual citizenship. But I m considering at this moment availability of any other alternative options other than 'family of a settled person visa' to join my husband ( otherwise we have to wait sometime to prove the financial requirement under the family of a settled person visa).
Thank you very much.

Only one which you qualify for in your own right, student or work sponsored visa.

How long does your husband intend to remain in the UK?

Initial contract is one year from this April to next year April. May have the possibility to extend. I also want the Visa until such time.
Can't there be any oppotunity to sponsor me based on his employment for the period of his employment in U.K.
Thanks.

Hi,
Thank you. Just for me to understanding, under family of a settled person Visa to sponsor spouse and a child a person should prove around £ 22,400.
However, under tier 2 general a person can sponsor family and whether they also should prove a similar financial requirement?
Based on the information I noted that it is not( may be I have missed something)
But if it is the case what is the difference? Because both options gives ability to work and study?
Thanks

Your husband is in the UK as a British national and therefore will have to meet the minimum income level of £22,400 p.a in able to sponsor you and your child.

There is no option to sponsor family members under a PBS category. As you correctly understand, there is a financial difference in the requirements for a settlement visa and a PBS category.
