The online status changed on the 18th October, it said that I should receive my decision within 10 working days. Once that period passed and no letter had arrived I called UK Visas. I was told that the package was sent on the 1st November and if I don't recieve it within 10 working days I should call them again. Well, another 10 working days have passed, and still no letters... F#@! I wrote them an email and received a generic reply "we will contact you within 20 working days"... Really?! I called them today and a lady said that someone will contact me within 5 working days.
It's been a MONTH since my decision was made and I still don't know the outcome!!!

In the approval letter it mentions that I need to wait for invitation letter, so apparently there is one more letter I need to wait for. It also mentions not to contact my local council until I receive ceremony invitation letter.
However I called my council every tuesday to check if they have received my naturalisation certificate yet, as they advised they receive naturalisation certificates every tuesday from Home Office. Once they receive it, the council can book a ceremony for you and email ceremony booking conformation. The tricky bit is even if the council can book your ceremony, you still need to wait for the ceremony invitation letter sent by Home office to you !!

So basically it works like
1. Home office posts you approval letter,
2. Home office posts to council, the naturalisation certificate
3. Home office posts you again a ceremony invitation letter (You have 21 days to arrange a ceremony from the date you receive this)
4. Now you call council to book a ceremony
5. Now council emails you ceremony appointment email

When 1 & 2 happens, you can ask/request council to do 4 & 5, however you can't attend ceremony until you receive 3 !!!! Surely this can't be this complicated ! In this age of emails and mobile apps this can be simplified a lot better saving a lot of money for Home office and the applicants too !

After waiting patiently for almost 3 weeks I've decided to give then a ring again. Turns out the docs arrived a while back and the council tried to contact me once but couldn't because... they tried once and my line was engaged.

The final in the name of god up was that the Passport Office would not process my passport because they have not been notified about the fact I have attended my ceremony.

Firts appointment: 18-05-17
Passport received: 18-01-18

Bang on 9 months.
