Asylum fresh claim wait time

Post by Hopeful25 » Wed Oct 11, 2017 7:26 am

Hi Everyone,

Hoping someone can answer my question. I am an Iranian national and I had my asylum interview for my fresh claim on 14th September. I Feel the interview went really well and I am positive. Does anyone know how long I should wait for an answer ?
Any feedback is much appreciated.
Thank you

I'm not sure what you mean by fresh claim, however, I applied for Asylum in early 2nd Quarter of 2017, had my main interview in 1st week of September 2017, and received my grant :D letter 2nd week October 2017.

I heard if one's case is relatively easy to decide, the decision usually takes about 3-5 weeks. This has nothing to do with if you will be granted or refused, but if they have enough information to either grant or reject. I have seen people rejected in 3 weeks and some granted after many months. So It depends on the nature and strength of your case and the attitude of the case worker handling the case.

I hope this helps you and others looking for a time frame.

Thank you For your reply and I am happy that you got your Grant.
I think my case should be easy. My case has been open 5 years now they asked me after the interview to send back a copy of a utility bill to prove I still live with my fiancé which I sent straight away. I have been waiting a month now hoping it comes soon.

I went to submit my fresh claim on 26th Sept 2017 and gave me an acknowledgement letter . I received another letter around mid October to start reporting on 24 October for every 4 weeks on a Tuesday. I haven't received any further letters since then. Those who were invited for an interview for their fresh claim, does the case worker ask questions from your previous failed applications or the questions are just based on the new evidence?

No, I am alone, unmarried, still on section 4... was claiming asylum in aeroport when arrived more than 1,5 years ago...

Also have a women which one have met at college in same class and we are togather for one year. My solicitor said that we can not get merriage without stable status... she is from EU for 8 years here... just promblem with me... so hard to be asylum seeker...

They refused my fresh claim...said that documents which i was submitted is not original only copies... but the documents are original, not copies, same which my sister was got on my behalf in my country and sent to me...

15th of February i was on sheduled report and this is miracle that they didn`t stop me... i am lucky. So have a bit time till 1st of March to decide what to do further...

Solicitor said that he needs a bit time to evaluate the situation whether is suitable for judicial review or not...
Does anybody could help me? Any advice will be considered and appreciated.

Thank you to all in advance.
