Visa extension for dependents

Post by sb2906 » Mon Mar 28, 2022 12:47 am

My (Tier 2) and my partner's (Tier 2 dependent) visas are expiring on 14/04/2022. Since I have completed 5 yrs on Tier 2, I applied for ILR and my biometrics date is on 01/04/2022.

My partner has not completed 5 yrs. So, she is applying to extend her T2 dependent (i.e., Skilled worker dependent). I have two questions:

1. Am I correct in assuming that In the extension application, we just enter the exising details pertaining to my current Tier 2? For instance, they ask for CoS details and we have entered the existing CoS details. I have provided with my ILR application number in the extension application. So, hopefully, they will be able to pick up our circumstances.
2. When it comes to paying IHS, it is asking for my work end date and my visa end date. Do we just enter the current end dates (14/04/2022)? If so, won't they calculate IHS just for a month? Or should I enter both end dates as 3 years from now even though I don't have a decision on my ILR?

1. Yes. You may also add a cover letter saying the main applicant is applying for ILR.
2. Put start and end dates so that it calculates 3 years IHS.

Thank you.

We filled in the application and paid the IHS fees. However, the visa fee is quoted as £1408 instead of £610. I was wondering why this happened and I realized one of the questions in the application was "What time period does XXXX's Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) cover?" and I had entered "more than 3 years" as my CoS in 2017 was for 5 years.

I know the dependent visa extension will be for 3 yrs. But will the excess visa fee get refunded? Or should I delete this application and create a new application by changing the response to the above question?

For peace of mind, i would start a new application to avoid the hassle of arguing about and chasing refund. You will need to chase IHS refund in this way but its refund is guaranteed.

Hi, I have a same query so interested to know what you did next?

Did you select 'less than 3 years' option and was your application successful then?

Thanks.

Hi

Based on a previous experience, the Home Office won’t refund the visa fee if you paid 5yr visa fee and granted 3ye extension. You’ll need to redo the application again and say that your COS covers 3 years
