I had a similar experience but today upon checking I found out that the status switched back from processing to "We have received your application. You must submit your supporting documents to proceed with the application." with no explaination whatsoever, did anyone here encounter something similar?

I'm in the 18/2 ETA group:

16/01/2025 - Alert: We have received your application
20/01/2025 - Processing application: We have received your supporting documents
29/01/2025 - Processing application: Your application is being processed

My solicitor was going to sign off on my verification form anyway, so I had him certify copies of my documents. He was familiar with the process and knew he'd likely get a phone call in the next few weeks as a result.

Certified Copies
- US Passport
- UK Drivers Licence
- Certificate of Naturalisation

Originals:
- Birth certificate (+ US State Apostille seal)
- Bank statement (Signed / Stamped)
- HMRC Tax Letter
- PSNI correspondence (They requested a PSNI vetting back when I was applying, I kept the letter, I figured it wasn't a bad third source of residence / address proof)

I knew I might be asked to send originals down, but so far it's been two days since they moved it out of "verifying documents" and they've not sent me an email or flagged that with an alert.

Generated new coverpage and posted the required documents things afternoon. Definitely submit your original Naturalization doc.

The document given at the ceremony and the online passport application form does say to post your original passport and certificate of naturalisation.

Hope the delay won't be too long.

For non resident applications (I'm in Northern Ireland), they say you can post a certified copy of the passport, but that they may request an original. Given the state of US politics, I didn't want to risk losing it and needing a replacement unless I absolutely had to send it.

04/02/2025 - Call to witness
05/02/2025 - Printing

I risked it and didn’t send my original UK passport as I am traveling next week and didn’t want to be without.

- UK Drivers Licence

Originals:
- Cover Page
- Identity Verification Form
- Foreign Births Registration certificate
- Birth certificate

My estimated issue date is 19/02/25, here’s my timeline.

11/01/2025 - Alert: We have received your application (I sent my docs straight away but RM took 6 working days to send the letter to Ireland)
21/01/2025 - Processing application: We have received your supporting documents
30/01/2025 - Processing application: Your application is being processed
06/02/2025 - Call to witness (witness didn’t answer straight away but they left a voice mail for him to call them back, which he did about an hour after & it was accepted. He is a teacher)
07/02/2025 - Printing Card & Dispatched Book

I’m expecting my card to be dispatched either today or tomorrow and I’ll hopefully receive my book and card sometime this week. My fingers are crossed.

The docs I sent were:

Original British passport
Original birth certificate
Original FBR certificate
1 bank statement
1 black and white photocopy of my driving licence just for extra proof of address (not signed)

hmm. I also have an estimated date of 19/02/25, and my supporting documents were received on the 21st. But the tracker still just says Processing application: Your application is being processed. Here's hoping I did nothing wrong to delay the application.

They also received my documents on the 21st and been processing since then :(
Hope it's not that they haven't been able to contact my witness (a solicitor)

Well, my passport entered the UK on Monday and left the Royal Mail worldwide distribution centre expecting it to land in my local sorting office today and tonight it’s just been scanned back into Ireland!! I’ve had nothing but problems with Royal Mail for the whole process of this, I’ve sent stuff over 4 times and 3 of the times I’ve had problems and now for the second time somethings been sent here I’ve got another problem so I’ve had 4/6 problems with them  hopefully I receive it soon!

Hello!

Has anyone experienced a delay in the date that the documents were delivered and the date that the Passport Office acknowledges receipt of them?

I can see from DHL that my documents were delivered on Thursday 6 February but the passport tracking website still has the status as "Alert: You must submit your supporting documents to proceed with the application." (almost a week later)

Do they hold the documents from showing as receipted until they're ready to process the application and the turnaround time will then commence?

How did you address the envelope? I used the label the website gave me when I did my initial application (and a second time when I had to include additional documents) - along with the address it included a barcode + application number, which I assume makes it easy for them to record that they've received the documents. Mine changed their status on the tracking page from Alert to Processing/verify documents either the same day or next business day that An Post marked them as delivered.

I used the label provided with the barcode and the application number. Seems it might be lost... I'll call customer service and see what I can do.

So I guess my passport will now be delayed :(

Got an email saying that I need to submit a new birth certificate that has my parents details on it, and that the one I sent it obsolete. I went to check and yes, Panama issues a new design of birth certificates but the content is the same. The one I sent is the same I used for the naturalisation process.

Went to the web chat to ask for more information and simply got told that the birth certificate I sent doesn't have my parents information on it. Which is a lie, as it does. In big, in the middle. Full names and ID numbers. I pointed it our to the agent that the information is on the birth certificate and that is the same certificate I used for the naturalisation process. She says she asked for the document to be reviewed again and to ask on Monday for an update.

Oh well. No idea what to do now, just wait and see if they pressure for getting a new birth certificate and find a way of getting one without going to Panama to get it :(

My witness was called today (a notary public here in the US), and the online tracker now says "Your Passport Book is being printed. Any all documents submitted will be returned separately "

For reference my documents were received on the 21st.

I submitted my birth certificate, a notarized photocopy of my FBR cert, a notarized copy of my US drivers license (front and back), and a bank statement + a thing from my local county for proof of name & address.

I did not send in my US passport. If you do send in your passport instead of other identity documentation make sure its your actual passport and not a notarized photocopy. They won't accept a copy of the passport. (But they will accept a notarized copy of your drivers license)

Importantly I made sure my Witness followed these instructions when stamping the photocopy of my FBR cert and photocopy of my Drivers license: https://www.irishimmigration.ie/how-to- ... -document/
Write ‘Certified to be true copy of the original seen by me‘ on the document

Sign and date the document

Print their name under the signature

Add their occupation, address and telephone number.

Hi there. Has anyone living in Ireland (successfully) used the pre-paid An Post postage label that was part of the cover page/identity form documents? Just wondering because I find it odd they would cover the cost of any part of the process, thanks!

Not exactly sure what you meant. If you are referring to the barcode on the cover page, that’s not a postage label. That’s your tracking number for your application. You still need to purchase a postage stamp or registered mail service by yourself.

Thanks for the reply! The label I got with my documents is different from what you have posted. It has a barcode with a Track and Trace number along with a note where the stamp would go saying 'No payment required if posted through the An Post network'

My instructions also have the Track and Trace number and the Cover Page said, 'The easiest way to submit your documents is to print the attached postage label, which has been prepaid'

Just didn't know if anyone had done this as it seems a bit scary to drop some of the most important documents we have through the postbox with a prepaid label from them when everything else in the process was expensive!

Oh okay I haven’t seen the new ones yet, but I have been using these prepaid barcodes elsewhere (a lot of retailers provide returns for free postage now these days).

You don’t drop them in the post box (although you can if you want). You need to walk into an AnPost branch and hand your package over to the staff. They will scan the barcode and give you a receipt which contains the same tracking number.

By the way, AnPost is the state designated postal delivery company and therefore has the responsibility of delivering a package to anywhere in Ireland for the same price. It doesn’t matter if you live in a city centre or on a remote island. It’s always the same price.

They don’t accept certified copies of naturalisation cert as naturalisation staff aren’t available anymore to respond to passport requests to verify authenticity but FBR staff are.

Losing the photo on the naturalisation certs has triggered the need for a second form of photo id in naturalised applications for passports. (Copy of PSC or certified copy of licence in addition to original passport)
