Questions about stamp 6 and re-entry visa

Post by nospringonion » Thu Jul 17, 2025 3:27 pm

Hello,

Does anyone have the stamp 6 and re-entry visa application experience?

Stamp 6 seems to be simple, just sending the non-Irish passport and the naturalisation cert or Irish passport. How long does it take to get passport back in reality?

What documents are needed for re-entry visa based on stamp 6? How long the visa is valid for?

I asked in the immigration portal via queries. They said:
"How long the reentry visa is valid for? Will it be a single entry or a multiple entry visa?
Re-entry visas are usually granted in line with your passport expiry date."

However, I'm not sure if this is really true, so want to ask here to see if anyone has experience.

BTW, does the re-entry visa need a real travel plan? e.g. flight tickets? If yes, does it have to be paid or a dummy one is enough?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Same as stamp 6 application, submit query in portal and you will be given an appointment date to attend GNIB. They will give you a re-entry visa on the spot with the same expiry date as your passport.
