7 months, still waiting for ILR?? homeoffice payment probems

Post by faizm » Sun Nov 28, 2010 12:06 pm

Hi,

I first applied for ILR on 17 April 2010, few days later I noticed Home Office has not taken any payment. I called Home Office and was told I have to wait for 14 weeks. I called HSBC and was told "no attempts have been made to take the payment". I sent a number fax messages and letters to home office but didn't receive a single response.

14 weeks later(in August), I called Home Office and was told of the payment problems. Fews days later Home Office returned the whole application and advise to apply again.

I applied again on 18th August and this time I sent cheque and the payment was taken few days later. However it has now been another 16 weeks and still waiting.

Can some one please advise what to do next?

Thinking of writing a complaint of 'extremly poor service standard' alternatively contacting to local MP.

What options are available, please advise??

Regards,
Faiz

not sure if there is anything else u can do. Home office are entitled to take time to review applications. on their webpage it cleary says they deal with 90% applications in 6 months. You are still within 6 months and that is assuming that u are not in final 10% where appliations take longer..

patience...you chose to apply by post rather than personal application so just wait and watch...

So, it's been 16 weeks, not 7 months!

Yes, it is 16 weeks but in together it is 7 months now.

Should I can still complaint home office regarding the poor standard of service as they should have returned the first application few weeks later rather than taking 3 1/2 months.

total time doesnt matter. you are in a queue and your queue started when u submitted the application second time. i know it is frustrating but dont panic.

no one can stop you from complaining. its ur decision.

Your second application timeline began on 18Aug 2010, this is about 3 1/2 months now ( which is less than 16 wks). Unfortunately the previous time will not be taken into your time line.
As others have advised, you will have to wait. it may take up to 4-6 months to have a decision, so you have to be patient.
However you can write to your local MP, who knows, you may get lucky!
All the best
