Earnings query..again :)

Post by nks » Mon Aug 29, 2011 4:25 pm

Hi,

I have this query related to salaried employment. Are there any guidelines from UKBA with respect to adhoc allowances from employer, which are not part of contract.

For eg., I just learnt that my employer pays On-Call allownce to be available on-calls out of normal work hours. This is also accounted in payslips, but can this be counted towards your earnings calculation for Tier 1 extension points?

Thanks,
nks

The full scope of allowances are outlined in the policy guidance on page 18 but generally, a benefit or allowance that is taxed is permitted.

Thanks. Going by the guidance, there is lot of scope to reject this allowance, even if present in your payslip with the reasoning that "its not part of your contractual agreement". Any thoughts, experiences around this?
